Season 2009-2010 begins...

What up fellas...Last night, Laythan and I hunted in a spot that we really felt like was going to pay out for us this year. We've been talking for the last two weeks about wanting to start the season with a double doe kill...This was our first hunt on the first day of Illinois hunting. We had been up in the stand for about 30 minutes, and just finished our interviews. Laythan is an awesome friend and for some reason he always wants me to take the first hunt. Well, he was filming me talking about how windy it was (30 to 40 mile hour gusts) and a group of deer busted out of the weeds. We watched them work toward us for about 15 minutes, before I put the Kabosh to a nice mature doe. 28 yards, broadside, couldn't have been better! The footage was BEAUTIFUL (props to Laythan). We switched places and it wasn't long after that, that he had a chance at a nice doe. She was a little farther at 36 yards...Laythan had made an accidental error in regards to his pins, and because of that...he shot right over her back. All in all, it was an awesome hunt with great footage. We didn't get that season opening double doe, but it was a great way to start the season, and I think you all will enjoy it on The Harvester's Guilld next fall! I will keep you all posted on hunts throughout the season...It's going to be a great year!
